I know that you check the oil level through the window on the lower right side of the motor, however do you check it while it is on the centerstand, or on the side stand? I have heard both are acceptable, however I see a large difference on my bike. I do not have an owners manual and no one else that I have talked to about this, has one either. The service manual does not cover this point either.

On the GL1000 the oil sightglass is checked on the centerstand.
