I get an terrible squeal when I transmit with both helmets hooked up. I've cleaned every ground I can find. Every once and a while it will work just fine, but most of the time I get feedback with both helmets hooked up. Any suggestions ?

Michael,
Very simple solution, only hook up one helmet!! I know you REALLY wanted to hear that, just couldn't resist it!!! Wish I could help you but I can't..

Last year I had the Hondaline CB installed in my '93 Aspy. It also squealled badly when the mike was keyed. after going thru the whole system trying to locate the problem, they discovered that the culprit was bad coax cable.Replaced with new cable from Radio Shack and no more squeal.Hope this helps.
Good Luck,Joe.

Not only can a bad piece of co-ax cause a squeal in a CB, but a bad antenna connection can do the same thing. Check all those connections. You didn't say what kind of antenna you have. Whatever kind you have has to be grounded well to the frame of the bike.

The reason for the feedback is the secondary intercom that is used in the CB is not working. Whenever the squelch is open or the unit is in transmit the CB intercom takes over from the intercom contained in the stereo. That is what the H.S. volume control on the CB is for. You should be able to turn this CB intercom almost completely off when in the transmit mode. Due to age the components in the CB have changed value and this control doesn't work properly. It can be repaired.
