I have a 1981 GL1100 and I just sent my Triple tree off to be modified. I have heard a little about the fork braces that are being offered (Super Brace). Have any of you put them on your trike? And if so, what difference did you notice? Is one brand better than the other? Give me some input guys. I am a physically challenged individual and Im looking for anything that will help with handling. Thanks in advance for your input.

Jack, What handling problem do you have that you think a Super Brace might help? I have put the brace on my 1200 and now my 1500 but I don't know myself what it accomplishes when the bike is triked.

I was told that it add to my stability. I really don't know Bob. This is my first experience with a motorcycle of any kind. Not having anything to compare with, I wouldn't know if steering etc. was more difficult than neccesary. Im just fishing for some advice from some of you guys with something I don't have, "experience". Thanks

Yeow Jack. I just went out to the Super Brace site and for $110 for the one that fits your bike I think I'd wait and see what the steering kit does for you before considering the brace. You also might want to post in the wanted classifieds (be careful now) and see if someone has a used one.

Thanks Bob...Oh, And I post that in the "For Sale" section right? lol

Jack,
I just put a brace from Saber Cycle on my 82 1100 sidecar rig. (I really didn't care to deal with Saber but couldn't find anything else). Theirs was around $50. I immediately noticed more positive tracking as the fork was acting as one unit and not two separate sliders connected by an axle. My forks must have been getting worn as the calipers would just start to touch the brake rotors when I turned hard. The brace has stopped that.
Compared to later Wings the 1100 fork tubes are pretty skinny and I think the brace at the top of the sliders helps to stop the twisting incured when you turn the bars. Raked trees will reduce the amount of effort you feel at the bars but the torque transmitted from the wheel into the fork assembly will still be there.
Just my 2c
Brian..

Thanks Brian. I own the 1981 GL1100 and will certainly put your advice to work. I wouldn't buy from Saber Cycles if my life depended on it though! Thats another topic of its own and it is going STRONG in the General Discussion area!

Believe me Jack I'm no fan of Saber! They near killed a friend of mine with a cheap nasty tow hitch that broke first time out and locked his rear wheel. Then they told him to go **** himself when he called to complain.

Easy there, Jack!

I don't want to have to get involved over here too!
