Don't buy old tires. Check the date of manufacturer --------- usually follows the DOT coding ---- three digt number that stipulates month and year of manufacture.

Mike if it is Dunlop check Date code on tire. My 2000 SE front tire (original) done that and Dunlop replaced it under warranty.Had 9,400 miles on it also. According to date code tire was little over one year old. so it can happen to young ones too. Dealer did not even charge for mounting and balancing.

Mike, also make sure and DO NOT use the spray on tire dressing or armorall to make your tires shine. The tire shine products take the natural oils out of the rubber causing cracks.
