Should I buy my fork oil at my local dealer if he has it? What are my options?
Thanks, Jim

Jim, it is a matter of choice when it comes to fork oils just as it is with motor oils. I have friends that want the Honda brand fork oil in their bikes and others that use Yamaha fork oil, And others use Suzuki oil. I prefer the Bel-Ray 15 wt fork oil myself. I would recommend changing the fork oil at least every 12,000 miles. It helps reduce wear on the bushings and on my bike it improves the ride noticably.

Lots of luck if you have a GL1800. No Fork Oil Drain Hole provided. I guess the GL1800 has lifetime oil in the forks.

Jim: you don't say what wing you have. If it is a 1500 of any vintage, definitely use a 15W. We use Motul medium weight when we install PROGRESSIVE SUSPENSION springs at the Rally's. On the 1200 and 1100 I have found that 20 wt works a little better. And I have even used 30 wt on very high milage (100,000 plus) bikes that have not been rebuilt.
Set the fork oil level at 5 1/2" from the top with the springs removed and the forks FULLY compressed. This is good for All model wings.
Hope this helps:
