I just performed Don's modification this afternoon on my 84 Aspencade and the results are nothing short of spectacular. You wouldn't know it was the same bike. Net cost of 55 cents. Took me about an hour to do the installation, and even though I synched the carbs, they didn't even need it. If you don't have a carb stick and your bike runs fine except for popping and backfiring, don't worry about it.
Dealer wanted about $400 to re-jet my bike--boy, don't tell me this message board isn't worth its weight in gold!
